The Cottonwoods is an enclave of 68 townhomes that recreate the exotic flavor of old Morocco, enhanced by graceful cottonwood trees, a teahouse overlooking a koi pond, pungent citrus gardens and a commons area with grass-bordered fountains designed to encourage mixing and mingling in the cool of the evening. The one and two story units have free-form fireplaces, "occular" windows and overhead transoms that allow a constant flow of fresh air. Cleverly- planned niches invite coziness, and curved staircases, loggias and domes in the two story homes reflect the sculptural character of the project. Upstairs, secluded balconies allow peeks at the outside world while maintaining privacy within. Everywhere, touches of wood are applied through beams and trellised latticework. Architecture and landscaping combine in a totally unique manner. Intimate clusters of buildings face their own shaded courtyards, overflowing with soft trees grown specially for the project. Antique portals and Tuscany-tiled
roofs recreate images of other times and places. The Cottonwoods is a thoughtfully-conceived oasis of meandering streams, lush greenery
and timeless architecture.
